Deshpande Foundation was founded by Gururaj (“Desh”) and Jaishree Deshpande. Founded in 1996, the Deshpande Foundation is one of the leading philanthropic Foundations in Massachusetts and India in the areas of innovation, entrepreneurship and international development. Through its grant-making, the Deshpande Foundation has helped launch innovative companies, helped NGOs develop an international presence and launched partnerships with some of the most remarkable change agents in the world today.
The Foundation boast on its team of experienced and highly committed individuals. The Board of Directors and Advisory Board provide decades of entrepreneurial, philanthropic, and management experience and provide hands-on guidance and leadership for the Foundation’s work. Its staff are highly energetic, dedicated, and engaged individuals who translate the higher level principles of the Foundation’s work to ground-level change.

The Foundation’s NGO support program currently is funding around 60 NGOs to work in the Sandbox area of North West Karnataka. This NGOs are operating in diverse field of health, education, agriculture and livelihood. Deshpande Foundation in conjunction with leaders in the field of IT students and a sample of Sandbox NGOs has began to explore how to harness India’s IT prowess to leverage & scale the work of NGOs.
